My mother turned 50 yesterday. She will kill me if she finds out that I posted that, however I felt so excited to celebrate this great milestone with her. I thought back to all of the birthdays I have had and I contemplated where and who I will be when I turn 50. I looked at her with admiration for all that she has been through and that she has given me throughout my life. I am thankful that she dedicated so much of hers to raising me and my siblings. Her honor and selflessness always gives me such hope about the true qualities I gained from her. I love her and am blessed to allow my children the privilege of spending time enjoying her laughter, love, hugs and wisdom. I think that maybe as time marches on I will feel better equipped to handle my life the way she has handled hers. Thanks Mother and Happy Birthday.

Here's to hoping we can celebrate our big 50 together!

Maybe we should start with 30 and see where we are after that.

Maybe I should tell your mom that you posted! :)

Seriously, your mother is an inspiration to all who triumph over a shattered life.
