Emergancy Room take 2

Well, after having my fill of Kadlec ER for my entire life, I was once again behind those double doors of the ER. George and I spent the better half of the entire day in the ER yesterday. George had gotten the flu (a.k.a. puking, pooping and fever) about 2 weeks ago. The vomiting stopped after I realized not to feed him anything but dry stuff, this only accord to me after trying to get him back on a normal diet twice in four days. He however continued with stomach bloating, diarrhea, and fever for the reminder of the two weeks. After two regular Doctor visits and getting the "keep him resting and give him lots of fluids" I finally took matters into my own hands. I took him in and the tests began. He had four blood draws, a catheter, two abdominal x-rays, 3 attempts for an IV, and 500 cc of fluids (IV) and one nose swab we got to the bottom of it. He had a very severe bladder infection, that had gone untreated for a week or so. I had no clue and was being told it was just the flu. Now we are home and he is feeling loads better. He is on strong antibiotics and lots of fluids. I hope that this will be the end of my string of bad luck and will bring the month of misery (February) to a close.

That is NOT good. Good thing you were thinking clearly and following your "mommy-sense"! We usually know when something is just NOT right.

Oh, poor George. Glad the antibiotics are helping him feel better. It's always hard watching our kids go through all those miserable tests but atleast you got answers and your instincts were right on! Hope he and you both get back to 100% soon!

How awful. What a month. I had the hospital and ER and everything about it. Hopefully you won't have to go back for a long time.

poor little guy, the joys of being a parent and having mother's intuition. good for you for sticking to your guns, its hard not being talked out of what you think is wrong. you are definitely looking forward to march, it can only be better, right?
