Birth Story

The Story of Scarlett Hope

Imagine my surprise that this baby was still holding on as my due date rapidly approached, what was going on this was so not the plan. I stopped worrying and feeling frustrated and had to trust my body and my baby and let this happen when it was going to happen. My due date was Thursday and not an ache or twitch of labor. Friday, I woke up feeling a little frustrated and my back was hurting. I began the day with a few labor pains here and there, I took Eva to the Dr. I had mild contractions off and on for the next few hours. I took a much needed nap and even had the desire to grocery shop for an hour and half at Winco. Stopping in the aisle to have a mild contraction. At about 7pm my mom thought I might need to call my midwife because I was looking a little more intense with my contractions. I called around 7:45 and my midwife arrived at 8:30. John set up the birth tub and I just slipped in. I spent the next hour or so, contracting and swaying and holding Johns hand. I started feeling that intense moments of labor around 10pm. I needed a little more dilation, which took all of 5 minutes, I started pushing and then she was arrived. From an 8 to a ten to delivery was about 5 minutes. My beautiful daughter arrived immersed in water and I was able to pull her up out of the water and to actually see that she was a girl and to hold and gently bring her into this world. My labor was the most natural thing and allowed me to feel every moment. It was a wonderful choice for my family and baby. My boys slept soundly in bed while Scarlett arrived into this world. I was so blessed to have a wonderful midwife and a support of beautiful birth helpers. It was perfect for me and Scarlett.
