Furture Band Geeks and Chess Club Members

I thought a lot about outing my two adorable boys. These kids have some of the nerdiest tendencies. I will tell you these traits come from John and are entirely his doing but I would be a lier. Yes, John and I both were in band. John however graduated out of the nerdy band and joined a really cool band ("Drive By Media" with the Pettey Brothers) I on the other hand remained a band nerd in my early high school years. John and I both love chess and we sometimes just will sit and play a game together or five. I hoped that these nerd traits would skip over the boys but they did not.
First, I will address the band issue. George and Jack love to play any kind of music. They play with their matching keyboards, Maracas, Rain Stick or train whistle. They both have so much fun together getting as loud as possible. Their love of music is not just their own homemade music but they are lovers of all music. "They Might Be Giants" kid songs is always playing in the car.

Second, chess and the mess it makes. George fell in love with a wooden chess set that we have. He loved it so much that he lost all but 8 or 9 pieces. We then bought him another set. My mother bought him one and he found the other two sets we own. He plays his version of chess, by lining the pieces up and moving them one space and then back. He takes them to church, the doctors, in the car and to bed with him. Give the kid a chess set and he is happy for hours.
Am I concerned you might ask, in the fact that me boys love two of the most nerdiest things? I am hoping that George and Jack can bring the "cool" out in both of these hobbies.

You and John are pretty cool so I'm sure the boys aren't doomed either.

Yeah for chess. I love that game and I think it is great that he does too. Nothing wrong with a brain. And cute to boot.

Musical talent and a sharp mind? sounds like a perfect combo to me.

George and Jack had a great-father who loved music (espcially Big Band). During WWII, he played the according on the radio to help raise money for to support the troops.

Carter likes to pretend that he is playing the trombone, if that makes you feel any better.
