Random Thoughts

If anyone has ever been to my home you know that I am a bit of a clean freak. I am compulsive about sweeping, counter wiping, and vacuuming. I will not be honest in telling you how many times a day I do the following, we will leave it at a little to much. I love to imagine that someone could take a germ screening of my home and it would rate very low (what ever a germ screening is?). I have always been the clean and organized one in my family and enjoy having a place and a purpose for all items in my home. However, my van is a whole other place. It is like this demon side of me allows my car to become a gross chaotic mess. I have old sippy cups, millions of random toys, missing socks, snap shot photos that never make it into my home, mail, and many other weird and strange items. I do clean this traveling van of disaster. It gets vacuumed and washed and wiped down but it manages to suck all of the dirt and grime back into its seats and floors in no time. The other day I rummaged around the boys carseats and was appalled at the fact that there was enough food to feed a small army in the seats. Ahhhhh. This how ever was not the worse thing, this morning I sent my dear hubby to the car to grab some walmart bags that had been lost to black whole that is are trunk and well he found what was left of a pack of frozen burritos (lunches for him for the following week) in a squishy mess. I was horrified. I told him I must be the worst wife to forget that. He laughed and said we all make mistakes. Well, I am vowing to do better and to keep my lovely "Kia Sedona Van" in spic and span shape.
Do you ever feel like this about your vehicle?

oh my goodness I feel your pain! I have come to this conclusion which I hope is not an excuse (it is) that we only have so many hands and the bags and loose papers, opened bags of goldfish crackers just cannot make it in with the kids. But then to go back out to the car is torchure on the kids because they cant go out with me. That is my take on why my car is a disaster. :)
Good luck with your van!! you are not alone :)
I wanna take you on the offer to get the boys together. I will get a hold of you when I get back from out of town and we will plan something :)

Sorry about the burritos. Stick them back in the freezer and they'll be fine, (Just Kidding.)

Do you know what I do? I clean it out while the kids are riding bikes/sidewalk chalking in the driveway. I've also stopped the 5 toys that go with us everywhere we go. She's allowed one toy and she MUST bring it back inside with us or else she can't bring one another time. And everytime I fill up the tank, I get rid of all the garbage. I also tell Claire when we're going to vacuum it out and tell her if she doesn't take her toys inside, I'll vacuum them up. That always makes for a good hussle. Good Luck. I hate having a messy car.

You must have looked in my car and got inspired for this post. Its not as bad as it use to be, but its always the last to be taken care of. Funny Random.

Hilarious! My sentiments exactly. Except we have a very small Toyota Corolla with about twice as much mess. I often wonder how it is possible that one medium size child can really produce so much mess and as for the food in the trunk--I have done that more times than I care to admit!

Katie, that's my excuse, too, although I really can't use it any more because I don't have any kids small enough to need to be carried in. They can both get out of the car on their own and walk inside without help. So I do have two free hands to carry stuff in, and I do try to, but...you know. So, yeah, my van is always a disaster.

100% in the same boat:) I manage to keep my house fairly orderly and clean... but man, my van is nasty. And I don't really care, it's weird how you can be so anal about one thing, and not really care how nasty something else is:)
