Mr. Monster

Meet my nursing Monster. Jack Ludwig Spencer has been by far the most persistent and mean nurser. He is fast approaching his first birthday (April 30) and I have begun trying to wean him. Ummm, well lets just say he is having nothing to do with it.
I have bought him two special cups to tempt him into trying some whole milk. Much to my delight the first time he drank he sucked down a bunch of milk, however it came out the sides of his mouth and covered me and his shirt with milk. He just laughed and blew milk bubbles.
This boy just wants to nurse. He will grind his teeth, turn bright red and scream if not given "his" milky (what we call breast milk) right away. So I will continue to try to curb this monsters attacks and issue the cup at all opportunities. My goal is to have him weaned in the next month or so. We shall see.

So let me tell you, for Ian's first bday we were in WA and I thought, I'll stop nursing when we get home, then, I'll stop when...so here we are...15 months old. But the cold turkey is good. He is easily distracted, but he is always pointing at the rocking chair, that's where he nurses. Poor little boys. Claire would still be nursing if I'd let her! Good luck. Let me know how it goes!

I'm sorry. I don't have any advice for you, but I hope it works out.

Oh man, that's rough. I remember buying every sippy cup on the market to try to get Natalie "off" the breast when I was done. Good luck with that! :-)

My little guy is quite the nurser. Loves his mama milk. I'm not a good weaner. I nurse forever, I figure, What's the harm? good luck to you

I think you're doing great. Introducing the cup a little at a time is all you can do. I'm not a fan of screaming. I nursed Britton until one week before his first birthday. The trick with him was making sure he was full and replacing me with another comfort item.

Oh Sara, good luck with that weaning thing. I remember the days of feeling like a milk cow. Oh that was not a good memory. I will be rooting for you. It will be over someday huh. Hang tight.
